From Serving the Nation to Serving the Community – My Journey to Chimney Sweeping in York
After proudly dedicating over 14 years to serving Queen and Country, I began a new chapter—one grounded in family, community, and a hands-on profession I’ve grown to love.
My military journey began in 1998 with the Green Howards. Following the regimental amalgamation in 2006, I continued my service with the 1st Battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment. Over the years, I was deployed on operations in Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Afghanistan, and eventually completed my service in Cyprus.
In 2012, I made the decision to leave the Army and return home to York—the city where I grew up and where my heart has always been. Here, I’ve built a life with my partner Carol, our children Rosie and Bramwell, our ever-faithful Labrador.
After years of operational deployments, my mission shifted: to create a stable, fulfilling life for my family and serve my local community in a new way. I retrained as a professional chimney sweep, specialising in solid fuel appliances, and founded a service grounded in trust, reliability, and excellence.
Today, I’m proud to offer chimney sweeping services across York and the surrounding areas—helping homeowners keep their chimneys clean, safe, and energy-efficient, with the same commitment and attention to detail that defined my military career.
